Important Lessons from a High School Government Teacher About Charlie Kirk

The violent and heinous actions that took the life of 31-year-old conservative community organizer Charlie Kirk on a college campus last week reflect a traumatic and tragic time for America and the freedoms we hold dear. There are many students and families across this country—including in Natick Public Schools—who respected his courage and desire to engage in difficult dialogue and debate.
No matter your political beliefs, it's imperative that educators and students alike are reminded of the foundations on which a free and civilized society is built and are needed to function. In a recent article published in The Daily Wire titled: "A Teacher's Tribute: What Charlie Kirk Taught Me and My Students," a high school government teacher took the time to address this tragedy in her classes to provide moral and social clarity for her students:

We implore all teachers in Natick Public Schools and across Massachusetts be the role models and educators that our children so desperately need, and we thank those who already are.
